Last week, Daniel Ashworth of ABM electrical made his way down to London for LuxLive 2018. He returned with bounds of knowledge and inspiration for our lighting products. On the surface, lighting may not seem like such an innovative field. However, LuxLive demonstrates the wide range of benefits these new technologies can bring to commercial and public environments.
What is LuxLive?
LuxLive 2018 is one of the leading events for anyone who happened to be in the lighting industry. By attending the event, we were able to compare the latest products and lighting technology. In just two days, we were given an exclusive look into innovations by top suppliers and manufacturers and met with a range of individuals within the sector.
What’s more, LuxLive is an event for learning. It features the largest education programme in the lighting industry. This includes a show floor that is packed with panel debates and sector influencers. We were able to update our knowledge on rules and regulations within the industry so that we can share any important information with our customers.
Daniel’s Story
There were plenty of interesting stalls throughout the day. They really piqued my interest in the future of this business. Though some were not typical products that I would sell to our customers, it was great to know that these products exist and for future projects. I now know that it is a possibility to achieve more from lighting.
This was my first-time attending Lux Live. After the 2-hour train journey from Manchester, I was eager to get boots on the ground and have a look around. The first thing I noticed was the attention to detail put into the construction of the stands. It was like neighbours trying to outdo each other with the best lighting display for Christmas! It took a few laps around the circuit just to admire and appreciate everyone’s fantastic stands.
The Suppliers
When I finally stopped gazing at the pretty lights, I decided to go to the Calex stall. The range of lamps they were showcasing was truly eye-catching. Although I have seen some of their lamps online, this was my first time viewing their full range on display. They have lamps that are truly epic and would transform any light fitting in a bar, restaurant, or even the home into a focal treat.
Another stall that stood out for me was a company called Den. I had a nice chat with John, the Northern Area Sales Manager, and he explained who they are and what they do. Den is a home automation company. Their products allow you to control your lighting and appliances through a smartphone app. I was impressed at how user-friendly this system was and how easily appliances can be paired with the app using an inline RF tag. This is truly innovative. Though there are other products like this on the market, I really did appreciate the thought and design that has been put into this range.
Finally, I was extremely impressed with the display by Astro Lighting. They are certainly no newcomers to the game and I am very familiar with this company. In terms of style, they certainly have a competitive edge!
Summary
There were so many great products ranges at Lux Live 2018 and so much information to take in. It was definitely worth a visit. To summarise, it was a wonderful experience for both myself and many other industry experts. I feel like I left with further knowledge about the industry. I cannot wait to attend next year’s event.
